Yash's Toxic Opens Globally, Crosses Rs 40 Crore In Advance Sales

Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, Yash's most ambitious endeavour, has opened in theatres across the globe, with shows starting as early as 6 am at several locations. The movie has already made over Rs 40 crore from advance sales. The movie has generated a lot of excitement not only in Karnataka but also in other Hindi-speaking states. After almost four years, Yash returns to the big screen with Toxic. His most recent appearance was in KGF: Chapter 2.

With a Kannada actor and a Kannada film making an ambitious endeavour to attract a large global audience, the film is a source of pride for Kannadigas.

Ramakrishna DK, a member of the Karnataka Producers Association, said,

"It is a matter of pride that a hero from our region has reached Bollywood and Hollywood level. Seeing how a bus driver's son became a huge star is encouraging."

More than 90% of exhibitors have decided to give Toxic priority over other Kannada movies, despite the fact that several Kannada films were released just last week.

“Several theatres have reached a point where they are on the verge of shutting down. At a point like this, Toxic has come as a boon. Nobody will let go of a movie this huge. The shows for the first day are already sold out,” he said.

Toxic sees strong advance bookings

Industry insiders in Karnataka claim that Yash's audacious endeavour may inspire a number of other local performers and directors to aim higher and try something truly remarkable.

Toxic has made Rs 34 crore from advance reservations and an additional Rs 9 crore from block seats, bringing its total advance sales to Rs 43.64 crore, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.

States like Bihar are responding favourably to the movie. Of the 402 shows tracked there, over 141 are nearly full, and another 75 are rapidly filling up. In the past, Bihar has been instrumental in increasing the box office receipts of films like Pushpa, with the producers even planning special celebrations to commemorate the audience's response.

Toxic breaks global pre-sale records

Sacnilk claims that the movie has surpassed big hits like Jawan and Kalki 2898 AD to clinch a spot in the coveted top 10 list of all-time pre-sales. On August 21 alone, almost 3,46,410 tickets were sold, and over the next two days, sales remained consistent.

Even before its premiere, Toxic is shattering records on a global scale. With more than 400 screens, which was previously unheard of for a Kannada movie, it is set to become one of the largest Indian releases in history in the UK. Due to extreme injuries, brutality, and sexual violence, the movie has been given an 18+ certificate in the UK.
