The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) is scheduled to hold a protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on Saturday, October 10. The party has described it as a major protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Abhijeet Dipke, Ashutosh Ranka, and Saurav Das Detained

In a high-stakes security clampdown at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, Delhi Police have detained CJP founders and leaders Abhijeet Dipke, Ashutosh Ranka, and Saurav Das immediately after their flights landed in the national capital today.

Visuals emerging from Terminal 3 show CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke being led away by a heavy police escort while wearing a distinct white T-shirt featuring a portrait of Mahatma Gandhi.

CJP Lead Ratna Singh Detained

Ratna Singh, head of the legal team of Cockroach Janata Party, said, 'I have been detained by the police, the reason for the detention has not been given.'

YouTuber Dhruv Rathee Detained

YouTuber Dhruv Rathee had also announced that he would participate in the CJP protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on Saturday, October 10. He was reportedly detained by Delhi Police from his Sector 56 residence in Gurugram ahead of the demonstration. However, it remains unclear whether his planned participation in the protest was the reason for his reported detention.

Delhi Police deny protest permission

Around 50 police personnel had reportedly gathered outside his residence late at night. Rathee had planned to participate in the CJP demonstration. The reported detention comes amid heightened security and a wider wave of detentions ahead of the protest.

However, Delhi Police have not granted permission for the protest at Jantar Mantar. According to sources, police said that organisers are required to give at least 10 days' notice before holding a protest, while the CJP submitted its application at short notice.

Protesters detained at Sansad Marg

Section 163 has been imposed in the New Delhi and Sansad Marg areas. The gathering of five or more people will not be allowed, and banners and posters will also be prohibited, according to the restrictions.

According to sources, Delhi Police have started detaining some protesters in the Sansad Marg area.

Amid heightened security measures by Delhi Police, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke posted on X:

“I wonder why the Prime Minister of this country is so afraid of the nation's youth and its people. What was the need to shut down all railway services? What was the need to halt all metro operations? They have cut off the internet and blocked the roads. They have brought the Army from J&K and deployed it in Delhi. They have summoned CRPF forces from Naxal-affected areas and deployed them in Delhi. Do Narendra Modi and Amit Shah want to wage war against the people of their own country? Is Gyanesh Kumar so dear to them that they would unleash their police and army forces upon their own citizens?..."
