The National Testing Agency (NTA) issued the provisional answer keys for the UGC-NET June session, Joint CSIR-UGC NET and ICAR AIEEA (PG) examinations. Later, on Sunday, the NTA announced that a committee had found multiple spelling errors and repeated questions in three subjects. Following the findings, the agency ordered fresh examinations for the affected subjects: English, Commerce and Sociology.
According to the NTA, no additional examination fee will be charged from candidates who appeared for these three subjects. The re-tests will be held on September 9 and 10. The English examination will be conducted from 9 AM to 12 noon on September 9, while the Commerce examination will be held from 3 PM to 6 PM on the same day. The Sociology examination will be conducted from 9 AM to 12 noon on September 10.
The NTA said the question papers for the three subjects contained major errors and did not meet the standards of a fair and error-free examination.
Errors In The Question Papers
The UGC-NET June 2026 examination was conducted from June 22 to 30. After the examination, candidates alleged that some parts of the question papers appeared to be AI-generated. They also pointed out errors in the names of prominent scholars, including American sociologist George Ritzer, whose name was reportedly printed incorrectly as “Putzer”. Parsons was reportedly printed as “Parsow”, while Ghurye appeared as “Ghunye”.
Additional errors reported in the question papers included garbled phrases, poor regional translations and allegations that some content appeared to be AI-generated.
