In order to preserve efficient traffic movement around Nainital lake, the authorities decided that parking would not be allowed in the area between Tallital Daat and Hanumangarhi Band from August 1. No government or private vehicle operating on the highways without a valid fitness certificate will be permitted by the Transport Department and the Police Department.
Legal action will be initiated, and such vehicles will be seized right away.
Honking to Be Banned
According to local road safety authorities, honking will be prohibited on Nainital's famous Mall Road starting on August 1. Strict penalties and legal action will follow any breach of this directive.
The authorities have approved traffic regulations in Nainital with the goal of making the area safer and more tourist friendly, in accordance with the High Court's ruling.
Senior Officials Finalize Traffic Measures
Key officials and stakeholders attended a high level meeting presided over by Kumaon Divisional Commissioner Deepak Rawat, where these decisions were finalized.
Inspector General (IG) Kumaon Nivedita Kukreti, District Magistrate Lalit Mohan Raiyal, SSP Dr. Manjunath TC, SP City Dr. Jagdish Chandra, DDA Secretary Manish Kumar, RTO Gurdev Singh, Arvind Pandey, Municipal Executive Officer Rohitash Sharma, Hotel Association President Digvijay Singh Bisht, General Secretary Ved Sah, Deepak Matiyali, Ramesh Joshi, Amar Singh, and others were present at the high level meeting.
Modern Parking Hub to Be Developed
According to sources, the Russian bypass will become a contemporary parking center with more space. A construction company will be chosen by the Nainital District Magistrate, who will also draft a thorough project report.
Other contemporary amenities, such as restrooms, drinking water, an electrical system, stores, CCTV surveillance, etc., will be built in the parking lot for the comfort of visitors and drivers.
The Transport and Police Department personnel were instructed to work together to halt private car operating as commercial taxis, issue fines, and take other legal action against violators.
