Manoj Muntashir Calls Adipurush A “Failed Attempt”, Praises Yash’s Ramayana Role

Lyricist and dialogue writer of Adipurush, Manoj Muntashir, has now described the film as a “failed attempt”. He admitted that it was the “biggest mistake” of his life. Manoj also urged the media not to compare the two films, Adipurush and Ramayana, with each other.

Manoj said on the sidelines of an event in Mumbai,

“It is better not to compare Ramayana with Adipurush. There should be no shame in admitting that Adipurush couldn’t meet expectations. The people associated with the film worked very hard, but it was a failed attempt. I am very proud that Adipurush’s music has reached people. The film’s music was a big hit. I hope the music of Ramayana matches that of Adipurush and goes beyond it.”

Manoj Wishes Ramayana Success

He also praised actor Yash, who plays Ravana in Ramayana. He said Yash is a very good actor and there is no doubt about that. He wished the best to all the movies, including Ramayana, that take India's stories to the world.

Earlier, in an interview, Manoj had expressed regret over his association with Adipurush. Acknowledging his mistakes, Manoj said,

“We couldn’t do justice to Lord Ram and Hanuman with this film. I couldn’t understand that at the time. All the mistakes I made happened in those two days. The film released on June 16, 2023, and everything went wrong between June 16 and June 18. People called to congratulate me, but that was when I realised many people don’t necessarily wish you well.”

He addressed the controversy surrounding the film’s dialogue and admitted that the dialogues were not up to the mark. He also added that when he looks back today, he feels ashamed. He further added,

“I don’t know why I wrote them. What was I even thinking?”

Following the release of the Ramayana trailer, Adipurush started trending across social media platforms, with fans drawing comparisons between the two films. According to reports, many users praised Ramayana’s visuals, scale, and overall presentation while criticising Adipurush, making it one of the most discussed topics online.
