Mann Ki Baat is a monthly radio programme that is broadcast on the last Sunday of every month at sharp 11 am on Akashvani (All India Radio). Through this medium, the Prime Minister of India communicates with the public. The recent episode of Mann Ki Baat was the 136th episode.
In his Mann Ki Baat radio address on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi focused on Kargil Vijay Diwas, national security achievements, and the accomplishments of youth in sports and science.
PM Modi said that India is continuously strengthening its technological capabilities and scaling new heights in defence production, military exports, and political cooperation with friendly nations.
PM Modi Remembers Kargil Martyrs
In his monthly radio programme ‘Mann Ki Baat’, which coincided with the day the nation paid tribute to the immortal martyrs of the 1999 Kargil War, the Prime Minister spoke about INS Magendragiri, which was recently inducted into the Indian Navy.
Opening his address on Kargil Vijay Diwas, PM Modi paid tribute to the armed forces. PM Modi said,
“This day fills us with pride. This day reminds us of the extraordinary courage of our brave soldiers. The towering peaks of Kargil, harsh weather, and the challenges posed by the enemy, our soldiers faced every such circumstance, yet their spirit was greater than every challenge”.
“They sacrificed everything for the defence of Maa Bharati. Today, on ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’, I respectfully bow to all the brave martyrs and soldiers.”
PM Modi added,
“The India of today not only remembers its heroes but also tells the younger generation about their bravery, sacrifices, and achievements. With this very sentiment, a special ‘Shaurya Vijay Yatra’ has been organised this year. Having started on July 14 from the National War Memorial in Delhi, this motorcycle rally will reach the Kargil War Memorial in Dras. Its message is ‘One Ride, One Nation, One Salute’. This journey reminds us that the sacrifice made for the nation can never be forgotten.”
PM Celebrates Youth Achievements
Shifting focus to youth accomplishments, Modi praised shuttler PV Sindhu’s Japan Open victory and the Indian women’s cricket team’s historic 270-run Test win at Lord’s.
He also lauded India’s achievements in science and innovation, highlighting the launch of ‘Vikram-1’, India’s first privately developed rocket, and India’s top ranking at the International Physics Olympiad.
PM Promotes Sustainable Development
On environmental efforts, PM Modi noted the planting of over 35 crore saplings in a single day under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign in Uttar Pradesh, and a “waste-to-wealth” project in Bihar’s Sitamarhi district, where single-use plastic is recycled into durable public benches.
PM Urges Clay Idol Use
He also appealed to citizens to use locally made clay idols for the upcoming Ganesh festival instead of imported or Plaster of Paris (PoP) alternatives. He said that purchasing idols made from local clay will provide direct employment to our local potters and artists and will promote their art.
Closing his address, he remembered former President A. P. J. Abdul Kalam on the eve of his death anniversary, extended greetings for Guru Purnima, and called on citizens to hoist the national flag at their homes for Independence Day on August 15.
He also asked citizens to share their ideas and suggestions for Independence Day with him on the MyGov platform.
