The Purpose of the Investigation

The investigation conducted by the EDs centers on the alleged misappropriation of government funds that were transferred via certain companies to create the trust and university assets. It is claimed that such funds were transferred in order to be used as an asset under the guise of the trust and the university. The agency also mentioned transactions between the companies and the trust in which some companies received the government project and gave back some of the money as donation and construction funds.

Row Over Demolition Notice

This dispute occurred several weeks after the Rampur Development Authority issued notice to the university to demolish 38 out of the 40 buildings. The reason for such an action by the authorities was that the said buildings had been constructed contrary to the laid-down regulations. Such a notice reached the university on July 15th. The management of the university was very unhappy with this notice. They stated that the decision was arbitrary and they were going to take the matter to court. The management of the university pointed out that all the constructions had been erected as per the design while arguing that the Rampur Development Authority was not at the time of construction responsible for this particular region. Therefore, the university is going to challenge the demolition notice in the court as they view it as one sided. The university management is defending the university while the Rampur Development Authority is defending its own stance.
