According to officials, the incident took place in early hours of the morning around 2:03 am.

The incident was reported from a building located in Gali No. 1 near Naya Tara Apartment on Madhyam Marg, which comes under the Okhla Fire Station-1 area.

To control the fire, the department dispached three water tenders, two water bowers, one breathing support unit and one quick response vehicle. As more distress calls came in, an additional water tender and light fire unit were also deployed.

Along with ADO Meena, the firefighting and rescue operation was led by Station Training Officer (STO) Mukul Bhardwaj, Station Officer (SO) Samarth Lal and Station Officer (SO) Raj Kumar.

The building was situated in a narrow street and has 5 floors which caused difficulties in the rescue operation.
