Amid the Cockroach Janta Party protest and ongoing Gen Z-led protests demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Congress on Saturday sought to underline its own activism on student issues.

In a post on X, Congress leader Supriya Shrinate said the party has been “standing firmly with Gen Z” and highlighted a series of protests organised by the National Students' Union of India (NSUI) and Indian Youth Congress over the past month against the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak controversy and CBSE evaluation concerns.

According to Shrinate, the Congress’ student and youth wings have organised more than 50 protests across the country, including demonstrations outside Shastri Bhawan, NTA headquarters and the residence of Dharmendra Pradhan. The party also reiterated its demand for the minister’s resignation.

According to the party, student activists protested outside Shastri Bhawan on May 12 following the cancellation of NEET-UG 2026, while demonstrations demanding a transparent investigation and examination reforms were held the next day in New Delhi.

On May 16, NSUI and IYC organised the “NTA Halla Bol” protest outside the NTA headquarters, seeking action against the examination body.

The party said its state units have since carried out protests and campaigns across the country over the NEET paper leak and CBSE evaluation concerns, repeatedly demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Congress also cited major demonstrations in Bhopal, a torch march outside Pradhan’s residence in Bhubaneswar, protests over the alleged COEMPT scam in New Delhi, and a Youth Congress protest in Nagpur against the NEET paper leak and CBSE marking issues.

The post comes at a time when student issues have once again taken centre stage following the CJP protest, with opposition parties competing to occupy the political space around youth concerns, examination irregularities and accountability in the education system.

Congress further claimed that Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi repeatedly raised the NEET controversy and met student delegations, projecting the party as a key political voice for India’s Gen Z.
