Amid the CBSE On Screen Marking (OSM) controversy, one in every four student of Class 12 who appeared for the examination have demanded copies of their answer sheets. Now for the next round, four out of every 10 students have applied for verification and re-evaluation.
In the first phase of CBSE post-result complaint filing, 4.04 lakh students requested their 11.31 lakh answer sheets. In the second phase, 1.6 lakh of these students have applied for verification and re-evaluation of 3.8 lakh answer sheets.
According to sources, most of the complaints are related to Physics answer sheets.
Expert teams from IIT….
An expert team from IIT Madras and IIT Kanpur has given security approval for the use of CBSE’s new evaluation portal. The Board has transferred the second answer-sheet data from the COEMPT site to its own portal, and the re-evaluation process will now be conducted through it.
‘Roll Number Not Found’ complaints
The Board also clarified the ‘Roll Number Not Found’ complaints. It said that only those students who applied for a photocopy of their answer sheet in the first phase are eligible to apply further.
Students who are directly applying for Phase 2 are receiving the message: “Roll Number Not Found.”
What happens in re-evaluation now?
Re-evaluation is the final stage of the CBSE answer-sheet review process. Only students who successfully applied for a scanned copy (photocopy) of their answer sheet in the earlier stage are eligible to apply.
What does the board review?
The board examines re-checking the total marks awarded to ensure there are no calculation errors and re-evaluating answers where students believe marks were missed, incorrectly awarded, or where there may be discrepancies in the assessment.
How does the process work?
CBSE forwards the challenged questions to a panel of senior subject experts. These experts review only the specific answers flagged by the student and verify whether marks have been awarded correctly according to the official marking scheme.
What if the marks change?
If the re-evaluation results in any change in marks, the updated score is reflected on the CBSE website. Students whose marks are revised must submit their original marksheet to their school or the concerned regional office. CBSE then issues a fresh marksheet with the updated marks.
