The Bankipur Assembly by-election in Bihar is witnessing a key contest between Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishore, BJP candidate Neeraj Kumar Sinha, and RJD's Rekha Kumari.

The Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party (RLJP), headed by former Union minister and erstwhile NDA ally Pashupati Kumar Paras, has also entered the electoral fray, fielding Tanvir Alam from the constituency.

In the first round of counting, RLJP candidate Tanvir Alam secured around 4.5 per cent of the votes. Pashupati Kumar Paras is the uncle of Union Minister Chirag Paswan.
