Ayesha Khan Detained at CJP Protest, Says She Was Standing Peacefully

Actor Ayesha Khan was arrested by the Mumbai Police on Wednesday, July 22, while attempting to take part in a protest in support of students demanding educational reforms.

Ayesha, who gained popularity for her role in the song “Shararat” from the movie Dhurandhar, posted a number of videos from the police van and later from the Worli Police Station in Mumbai, claiming that she was arrested even though she did not say anything or raising any slogans.

Ayesha Shares Detention Video

Ayesha posted a video of herself being dragged into a police van while repeatedly asking why she was being held.

She wrote in the caption,

"Dragged, detained for standing in peace. Asked questions to all the police people present there on why were we being detained? But no answer whatsoever! Sadak pe khade rehna kabse crime ho Gaya? Today will be the most peaceful sleep of my life. I stood for what was right! Still in the police station asking the same question! 

Why am I detained? Which law did I break? Forget about one’s democratic right, and protecting it, instead you are harming your own citizens, for what? I see shame in some of their eyes, but they are bound by their duties, they know, we know, what’s right and what’s wrong.

My stand is clear. We lack accountability, EVERYWHERE. I still have hope, we will see a better future. #jaihind #jaimaharashtra."

Ayesha Released After Detention

Ayesha later updated her social media accounts, informing her followers that she had been released roughly three hours after sharing the post about her detention.

 "I have been released, and I am going to get my brother released from Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Police Station," she disclosed. 

She also claimed that each of them was deliberately transported to different locations across the city. She further added, 

"I will say it again, for doing nothing."
