National Security Advisor Ajit Doval was honoured with the Lokmanya Tilak National Award by the Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Pune on Saturday, adding another recognition to a career spent dealing with some of India's toughest security challenges.
Tilak Smarak Trust did chose Doval for his contribution to national security, who has spent much of his career working in sensitive and often difficult environments. His assignments have taken him to Mizoram, Sikkim, Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir, where he dealt with crucial security matters at different points in his career.
Doval's experience has not been limited to India. He has also served at Indian missions in Islamabad and London, gaining years of experience in diplomacy and international affairs.
Instituted in 1983, the Lokmanya Tilak National Award is presented annually in Pune to individuals who have made exceptional contributions to national development and public service.
As National Security Advisor, Doval continues to play a key role in advising the government on India's security and strategic priorities.
