A 25-year-old delivery agent was killed after Chinese manjha severely cut his throat on Saturday. He was riding his motorcycle at over 80 kmph on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway when the incident occurred.

At around 2 pm, Raviraj, a resident of Noida, was travelling with his friend Naresh to Ghazipur in Delhi when the kite string suddenly struck his neck near Media House, close to UP Gate.

Naresh, who was riding pillion, grabbed the motorcycle’s handle as Raviraj lost control and managed to stop it. However, Raviraj had already suffered a fatal injury.

Chinese Manjha Raises Rider Safety Concerns

According to reports, he was rushed to Max Hospital in Vaishali, where doctors declared him dead.

The incident has once again raised concerns over the continued use and sale of Chinese manjha, a synthetic kite string that is significantly stronger and sharper than regular cotton thread. The thin and difficult-to-see string can pose a serious risk to two-wheeler riders, particularly on high-speed routes such as the Delhi-Meerut Expressway.

Police said the motorcycle’s speed increased the danger as the string continued to cut into Raviraj’s neck while the bike was in motion.

Police Detain Six Over Chinese Manjha

In the past three weeks, Ghaziabad Police have arrested six people on suspicion of selling Chinese manjha. According to police, the accused were caught trying to sell the prohibited string after procuring it from Delhi.
