Tej Pratap Yadav’s party, Janshakti Janata Dal (JJD), is facing a major setback after its candidate, Veena Manvi, was arrested by the police on Monday, July 13. She is the party’s official candidate, and an arrest warrant was issued against her on the day she filed her nomination.

Tej Pratap Yadav responded to the arrest. He said,

“This is all part of the government’s conspiracy. We are being framed. We challenge them. We will not let this conspiracy continue for long.”

He also announced that he would travel from Delhi to Bihar to support Veena Manvi.

Yadav questioned the timing of the arrest

Questioning the timing of the police action, Tej Pratap said,

“She was out even before filing her nomination, yet she was not arrested. But on the day of her nomination, action was taken against her. This is an injustice against a woman.”

Expressing his support for Veena Manvi, he said that he would hold a press conference as soon as he reached Bihar. He also alleged that the opposition was trying to weaken the party because he believed Veena Manvi was certain to win the by-election. He added that he hoped she would get justice.

Why was Veena Manvi arrested?

According to the police, the arrest was made in connection with a cheating case registered under Section 420 of the Indian Penal Code. However, the police have not yet disclosed the complete details of the case.
