There were at least five fatalities and two injuries due to a speeding bus running out of control and crashing into a crowd of people who were witnessing an orchestra show in a village near Lauriya in the West Champaran district of Bihar on Friday night. The group had assembled to witness the performance, which was organized as a part of the Chhathi celebrations for a newly born child in the family. According to the police, the accident occurred close to 11 pm in Bankatwa Parautola, where the spectators watching the show crossed the road and stood right in front of the vehicle's way.

Accident of Bus Heading to Bettiah Takes Place in Gorakhpur

According to Inderjeet Paswan, station house officer of Lauriya, the bus was headed from Gorakhpur to Bettiah when the driver of the bus lost control over the vehicle, which ran right into the people standing along the road. According to Jai Prakash Singh, sub-divisional police officer of Narkatiaganj, two people died on the spot because of the accident, while three others died later at the government hospital. Two others who survived have been admitted to the hospital.

Bus Driver Fled From Bus After Accident; Police Hunt For The Driver Is On

After the accident occurred, the driver attempted to escape from the scene in the bus. The driver subsequently abandoned the bus after some time. Left the scene. The police have seized the bus for their investigation. They say that the hunt for the bus driver is on and they would like to arrest him.
