There was a collapse of a building in the Satya Niketan area of Delhi has caused the deaths of seven people and triggered a massive rescue operation. According to the police force in Delhi, so far twelve persons have been rescued from the rubble, while the disaster management team is carrying out a search operation for any more trapped people in the building.
Death Toll And Rescue Details
While talking to the press, Mr. Narendra Singh Bundela stated that “of the 12 persons rescued from the debris of the collapsed building, six had been declared dead at the spot and five persons were shifted to hospital for treatment”. “One more person was found buried under the rubble and is presumed unconscious”, added the IG, NDRF.
Teams from NDRF and Fire Services were seen using dogs to search for anyone else who might have got trapped under the rubble. At the end of the statement, it was clearly mentioned that since there was a lot of rubble to shift, the rescue operations would continue for the rest of the day.
No Clarity Yet On Trapped Persons
According to Bundela, it is premature to mention any numbers of those who could still be stuck inside the collapsed building. He stated that there are no exact figures for the rescue workers at the moment. He said that the state machine came into action soon after the collapse was known. Two tactical teams from the NDRF were dispatched to the area. The Delhi Chief Minister had visited the place one day prior and asked them to make the relief process faster, he pointed out. Explaining how quickly his team can get to the spot, Bundela said that the NDRF needs to leave the base within twenty minutes of receiving any distress call.
