Satyendra Kumar, the District Magistrate of Varanasi, stated in a post on X in Hindi that the Prime Minister asked about the water levels of the Ganga and Varuna rivers, the arrangements at relief camps, and the amenities being provided to affected people.

Additionally, he directed officials to carry out relief efforts on a war footing and give particular attention to the needs of women, children, and the elderly in flood relief camps.

The district administration said it is supplying flood-hit and flood-prone areas with essential resources, while departments and rescue agencies are on alert to move affected residents to safety.

Officials said a flood control room has been set up to operate round the clock, monitoring water levels, weather conditions, potentially affected areas, and ongoing relief and rescue operations.

Officials said information received at the control room is immediately relayed to the concerned departments to ensure prompt action.

Twenty-one flood outposts have been set up throughout the region to improve local monitoring.

For relief and rescue efforts, 198 boats have been arranged across the district. Additionally, teams from the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC), Water Police, and National Disaster Response Force have been put on standby.

The Medical Department has been stocked with necessary medicines, first aid supplies, and other medical services in anticipation of health issues that frequently accompany floods. Medical teams will be stationed at relief camps as needed.
