On Wednesday, residents in the vicinity were alarmed by the discovery of six dead bodies in the Bhutanal Lake, located on the outskirts of Vijayapura in Karnataka. Six dead bodies discovered in Bhutanal Lake include those of a mother along with her five children. This has triggered an inquiry into the matter from the police. It is now up to the police to unravel the mystery behind the tragic deaths. The identification of the dead has been done by the authorities.

Dispute In Family Before Disappearance

As per Deputy Superintendent of Police, Nagaraj, the incident occurred after the night of August 23 when the 40-year-old Mallikarjun, who lives in Shanti Nagar in Toravi, got into a fight with his wife regarding an issue in the family. On that night, Mallikarjun was sleeping outdoors, whereas his wife and four children slept indoors. After waking up at 5 am on Monday, Mallikarjun found that his wife, along with his four children, were missing. He then went to Vijayapura to look after his 12-year-old son, who studies in a school for children with hearing and speech disabilities. There he realized that his son too had gone with his mother.

Police Launch Search Operation

Unable to trace his family despite searching around Toravi and Vijayapura, Mallikarjun had approached the police on August 24 with a complaint of missing persons. Police have now initiated a search operation to locate the dead bodies and are tracing details from the police stations located in the neighboring areas. An FIR has been filed at the Adarsh Nagar police station. As per the officials, the true cause of death can only be ascertained after post-mortem and further investigation.
