One man died, and three others sustained injuries in a building collapse that occurred at Karol Bagh in New Delhi on Friday. This incident occurred at around 11:15 a.m. on Pyare Lal Road, in the Regarpura locality, where the demolition of a two-story building was being carried out by some laborers employed by a private contractor. According to the police, the building collapsed during the demolition process and buried some laborers in the rubble. People residing in that locality informed the police, who rushed to the scene.
Building Collapses While Being Demolished
The building collapsed suddenly while the demolition was taking place. The person who has died is named Sheikh Shamshad. The dead body has been moved to Lady Hardinge Medical College Hospital. Among the injured, Mohammad Ayub has had an injury to his head, as well as a fracture in his right hand, and is critically ill at the Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. Sheikh Saidul is in hospital at Jeevan Mala Hospital due to injuries in his limbs, while Rafik-Ul is among those slightly injured.
Owner, Contractor Held for Questioning
Those involved in investigating this case have learned that the owner has not sought the necessary consent from the municipal authorities before knocking the building down. It is an illegal act. Currently, the police are questioning both the owner and the contractor to understand the whole situation. Evidence will be collected, and the next course of action will be determined by following the rule of law. The owner and the contractor are in legal jeopardy since they have violated the law. The police will make their judgment based on their acts.
