MCD Designates 24 Schools as 'Nigam Shri Schools of Excellence' in Delhi

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) announced on Saturday that 24 schools have been designated as "Nigam Shri Schools of Excellence" in an effort to increase public trust in the capital's municipal education system. There are more than 1,500 MCD schools in the Capital.

The announcement was made on Saturday during the Teachers' Day event at the Kedarnath Sahni Auditorium, Civic Center, on Minto Road in New Delhi.

"These institutions are designed to create visible benchmarks of quality and build public confidence in the municipal education system," the civic authority emphasised in an official statement. 

24 Nigam Shri schools to set benchmarks and support other MCD schools

Within the MCD educational system, they can be used as standards for high-quality instruction, facilities, and school administration. Instead of operating independently, each Nigam Shri school will serve as a school complex and catalyst, providing academic support and resource sharing to three to five other MCD schools.

Two other initiatives were also introduced by the MCD during the ceremony. The MCD Football Mini League aims to establish an organised grassroots sports ecosystem for pupils, while "Pratibhagita" aims to improve parental participation and foundational learning.

Pratibhagita initiative to strengthen school-parent communication

Pratibhagita is being implemented in partnership with the nonprofit organisation Rocket Learning, according to the MCD's Education department, to improve school-parent communication and empower parents to assist their children's learning at home.

Parents of elementary school students will receive information about their children, MCD initiatives, and school announcements, while parents of pre-primary students will receive play-based foundational learning exercises and audio-visual content.

During the Teachers' Day ceremony, 87 teachers were congratulated on their contributions to education in MCD schools, and the three initiatives, Nigam Shri Schools of Excellence, MCD Football Mini League and Pratibhagita, were also announced.
