The police crime branch of Mira-Bhayandar, Vasai-Virar (MBVV) has acted on a case involving a drug manufacturing unit operating out of Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh. Twenty-one individuals from four different states were arrested in connection with this case. As stated by the Police Commissioner of MBVV, Niket Kaushik, the seized drugs are valued at Rs 140 crore. This is one of the recent cases of the busting of drug manufacturing units in this area. The team from the Crime Branch traveled to Prayagraj to discover and shut down the facility.

Jalim Gang Link Raises Concern

According to Kaushik, out of the two individuals who were apprehended, both of them belong to the Jalim gang, which is involved in criminal activities in Kalyan. It has been reported that one of the apprehended persons has a list of grave charges against him, such as murder and extortion. The police are investigating whether the Jalim Gang is now engaged in drug trafficking.

Educated Accused, Cross-Border Trail

Interestingly, most of the people who get arrested are graduates, and there is also an engineer in the group, which proves that graduates and engineers are participating in such types of racket schemes. Kaushik pointed out that initial results have shown that the network might be extended to the outside of India, but it requires further investigation. The whole case was started from an operation in Nalasopara where 112 grams of MD were seized, which resulted in raids in Mumbai, Jalgaon, Gujarat, Kalyan, Nerul, and Uttar Pradesh.
