Pakistan has announced that it has filed a protest following what it described as a “highly provocative and unacceptable” action by an Indian Navy ship on September 15.

The announcement stated,

“The occurrence represented a significant breach of international law and the bilateral agreement regarding Advance Notice on Military Exercises, Maneuvers, and Troop Movements from 1991, potentially heightening tensions in the region.”

Indian, Pakistani Naval Vessels Collide In North Arabian Sea

The statement came a day after a frontline Indian Navy warship and a Pakistan Navy vessel collided on Tuesday evening in international waters in the North Arabian Sea. India subsequently issued a strong protest to Pakistan on Wednesday over what it described as the “unprofessional conduct of Pakistani naval units.”

The incident reportedly took place approximately 120 nautical miles from the Gulf of Oman. For several months, Indian Navy destroyers and frigates have been engaged in operations in the North Arabian Sea.

PNS Hunain Damaged In Collision With Indian Warship

Official sources confirmed that the Pakistani vessel involved was the PNS Hunain, which sustained damage in the incident and returned to its home port. The Indian warship reportedly suffered no damage and continued its regular surveillance duties, according to the sources.

The incident has led to competing accounts from the two countries over the circumstances surrounding the collision.
