New Delhi and Tokyo are taking their defense relations further ahead. An Air Self-Defense Force contingent has landed in Jodhpur in preparation for Exercise Veer Guardian Phase-II. The contingent has arrived in two JASDF C2 airplanes at Jodhpur Air Force Station. They will conduct exercises alongside the Indian Air Force from September 9 to September 22. The Indian Air Force informed this through its X account. It mentioned that the exercise was being carried out to increase interoperability between the two forces. It was aimed at increasing synergies and understanding.
Drills Set To Sharpen Air Combat Skills
According to JASDF, the exercise is designed to enhance the abilities of the units involved in the exercise, as well as build the relationship between the two air forces. The exercise is geared towards combat maneuvering. Japan will provide three F2A fighters from its Air Wing stationed at Tsuiki Air Base. In addition, 110 people are expected to participate. According to Japan Today, Takehiro Morita, JASDF chief of staff, stated that this would be an opportunity to build trust and understanding between the two sides.
India-Japan Defence Cooperation Widens
It comes in the wake of the visit of Japanese Defense Minister Shinjiro Koizumi to India in August, when Shinjiro Koizumi met with Rajnath Singh. They both decided to expand their cooperation in areas like security and the Indo-Pacific region and reiterated that the Indo-Pacific region has to remain free and open in light of all the global tensions prevailing. Japan-India Special Strategic and Global Partnership was also hailed as a pillar of peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
