Sonakshi Sinha has now reaffirmed her support for social activist Sonam Wangchuk, who has been on a hunger strike for the past 21 days over the leak of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) question papers and to demand the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Sonakshi, who had previously supported Wangchuk earlier this week, spoke out once again on Saturday morning after Delhi Police forcibly removed him from the Jantar Mantar protest site and took him to Safdarjung Hospital.

"It Wasn’t Right": Sonakshi Sinha

On Saturday night, Sonakshi Sinha posted a selfie video on her Instagram account, expressing her support for Sonam Wangchuk.

She said,

"The thing that happened with Sonam sir today, it wasn’t right. I am glad that he’s okay and that his wife is with him. He’s strong, he’s alert.

In the last few days, I have been seeing him and his supporters. No matter what has been going on, they have stayed calm, respectful, and have expressed their views without violence.

We all know the country’s strength is in its youth. Now, I feel like that’s true after looking at them. Even after all the discomfort, disappointment and difficulties, the way you have held on to your beliefs, hats off to you."

 

Sonakshi Urges Protesters to Maintain Peace

Sonakshi also appealed to Sonam Wangchuk’s supporters, who are preparing to march to Parliament on July 20, to maintain peace during their protest.

She said,

“Raise your voice, but stay the same way you are, which is your movement’s biggest strength, ‘peace, unity and respect’. 

Every citizen has a right to raise their voice, to question, and when they do it without violence or hatred, just with hope, their voice becomes stronger.”

 

She further added,

"Everyone who has supported Sonam sir has reminded us that bravery isn't about creating a commotion. It is also about standing calmly and resolutely. I stand with young people, students, the Constitution, and most importantly, our nation.

You have the right to hope, just as you have the right to ask questions. I hope that a conversation starts on July 20 and that each voice is given the respect it deserves.
