On Wednesday, Haryanvi singer and YouTuber Ankit Balyan was killed in Shamli district of Uttar Pradesh in an assault that shocked the entire musical fraternity of the area. The 32-year-old artist was attacked by at least four armed men with gunfire of around 18 bullets at a gymnasium he frequently visited, and despite being immediately taken to a hospital, he succumbed to his injuries. Now, a major police investigation is underway to determine what could have prompted such a vicious attack on an established figure in the locality's musical circle.
Attacks Took Place Outside Gym Before Shootings
According to the statements made by the police officials, the crime happened around 7 p.m. outside the Aryapuri drain embankment. After Balyan had completed his exercise routine and had stepped out of the gym towards his vehicle, the perpetrators in two vehicles opened fire upon him unexpectedly. The ADG Meerut, Bhanu Bhaskar, has also stated that although there were some policemen at the crime spot and had rushed him to the Community Health Center, doctors were unable to save him.
Gogi Gang Takes Blame For Murder Through Social Media Post
A social media post purportedly posted by the Gogi Gang is trending online, where the gang takes responsibility for the murder. It is believed that the gang linked the murder to a song that Balyan had made, which referred to the death of gangster Jitendra Gogi at Rohini Court. The Superintendent of Police, Shamli, N.P. Singh stated that the post will be investigated to determine whether there was any prior enmity.
