The prime suspect in the rape and murder of a six-year-old girl from Haldoni village, Greater Noida, was killed in a police encounter when he was being taken to the spot where he had committed the crime. The 40-year-old man had raped and murdered the child, and her body was found near the pond in the village earlier on the same day. As per the police, the accused had informed them about hiding the murder weapon near the police outpost. But when the police took the accused to the place, the accused managed to snatch the gun and started firing at the policemen, killing himself in return fire.
How The Encounter Unfolded
Assistant DCP Swatantra Kumar Singh revealed that it is believed that the crime happened at the residence of another suspect, who is under investigation. DCP Shailendra Kumar Singh disclosed that the pistol was indeed found from the bushes by a police party, but the scene became very violent after the accused attacked a policeman and fired at the police. The accused and the injured constable were taken to the hospital.

The girl disappeared on a Friday afternoon, after which her family, who own a sweet store in the village, filed a missing person’s report. The involvement of five police squads in the search resulted in the discovery of her dead body the following day, causing protests among furious locals. A case has been filed against her rapist and murderer under the rape and murder sections of the BNS, as well as the POCSO Act.
