The Department of Education in Delhi is conducting an inquiry into a private school that reportedly runs without having recognition from the concerned authorities. This action has been taken a few days after Education Minister Ashish Sood discussed this matter on X, saying the authorities will now verify the documentation of the school to determine whether it satisfies the regulations for operating a school. It is important to note that Sood has made it clear that in this case, the government won't show leniency. In his words, if any violation, irregularity, or breach is found after the investigation process, the government will take strict actions in accordance with the RTE Act along with others and may even close the school on the basis of its findings. So far, the school has not responded yet.
No Compromise On Child Safety, Says Sood
"No institution can operate beyond the law,” according to the Education Minister. In addition to this, he also made it clear that the safety, security, and well-being of the children are non-negotiable for the government. According to Sood, if there is even the slightest negligence in the inquiry process, the government will act at once.
Delhi Government Tightens Grip On School Safety Norms
This has been announced in the wake of the recent incidents where the government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, has taken action on the safety of children, after a three-year-old nursery student at a private school was sexually assaulted by a cab driver. She also mentioned the gang rape incident involving a 16-year-old girl on a sleeper bus in the Delhi NCR area, and said that Delhi and its neighboring states would take up GPS-based monitoring of buses together.
