Citing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's video in which he said he had forgiven the students, Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke said on Saturday that he hoped PM Modi would make another video expressing regret for the police violence against students during the July 20 demonstration.
In a video statement on X, Dipke stated,
"We all watched Modi ji's video yesterday, in which he promised to pardon every student. I think Modi ji will also release a video today, in which I hope he will apologize to all the students for the police brutality on July 20."
Dipke said that during the rally, students' clothes were torn and female demonstrators were assaulted.
"The police struck 12-year-old students on the head. Female demonstrators were beaten in their private parts, and their clothes were torn. Therefore, I hope Modi ji will apologize to all the female students who were abused in today's video," he stated.
PM Modi calls for forgiveness, not action
Dipke's remarks came a day after Prime Minister Modi said he was forgiving the students who had insulted him and his late mother during the Jantar Mantar protest, saying that instead of taking legal action, the "misguided children" should be shown the right path.
The Prime Minister stressed that now was the time to help young people and guide them in the right direction, even though he admitted that he could understand the suffering occurring in society.
‘They are our children’: PM Modi
"We must forgive our misbehaving children because they are our children. We have a responsibility to lead them down the correct path," he said.
Rahul Gandhi demands accountability
Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi strongly criticized the police's use of lathis on student protesters during the July 2026 Monsoon Session of Parliament. He called for accountability for the central government's repression of demonstrators on their way to Parliament.
Jantar Mantar protest ends after 26 days
The youth-led Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protests at Delhi's Jantar Mantar ended on July 25. Sonam Wangchuk, an innovator and activist, participated in a 26-day hunger strike alongside thousands of student activists to express public outrage over the alleged widespread leaks of competitive examination papers.
The CJP officially ended the protest after the government complied with its primary demands, which included reforms in education.
