Bomb Explodes at Manipur MLA Sapam Ranjan Singh’s Residence, No Injuries Reported

Around 1:30 am on Friday, a bomb exploded at the residence of Manipur's Konthoujam MLA and state government spokesperson Sapam Ranjan Singh in Konthoujam Mayai Leikai, Imphal West. According to the MLA, nobody was injured in the incident.

Singh said his family was left in panic after hearing a loud explosion in the early hours of the morning. 

“I have no animosity toward anyone, and there was no earlier threat. It's really worrying,” he said.

The incident, which occurred in the densely populated Konthoujam Mayai Leikai residential area, has raised concerns about the potential risk to civilians from the use of explosives.

MLA questions motive behind bomb attack

Singh condemned the incident and questioned the motive behind bombings and other acts of violence in Manipur.

“What is Manipur gaining from such acts? What is the purpose? Without any reason, carrying out bomb attacks or any kind of secret violent activities. What is the gain and what is the purpose?” he said.

According to the MLA, such acts serve no positive purpose and can leave local residents feeling fearful and uneasy.

CM Khemchand condemns blast at MLA’s residence

Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh visited Singh's residence after the incident to assess the situation. Khemchand strongly condemned the incident, describing it as a “senseless and barbaric” attack on the home of a people's representative and promising to prosecute those responsible.
