The race for Independence Day is now between two films that want to grab the maximum number of viewers. Sunny Deol's film Partition 1947 and Emraan Hashmi's film Awarapan 2 have grabbed everyone's attention in the industry. Initial indications show that one of these films has got a head start in bookings.

Advance Booking Figures for Partition 1947 Are Lower

As per reports from SACNILC, Partition 1947 has registered 29,261 bookings in the 2D version through 5,672 showings until 12 noon on Thursday. The film has booked Rs 81.39 lakh in advance without considering blocked seats. After taking into consideration the blocked seats, the amount rises to Rs 2.46 crore. However, the day has not ended, and experts in the industry believe that the figure can be revised at night.

Awarapan 2 Takes Lead in Box Office Race

On the other hand, Awarapan 2 is performing well in terms of ticket sales. Awarapan 2 has collected 1,02,470 tickets in 2D format in 5,934 screenings. It has earned Rs 3.26 crore without blocking tickets and Rs 5.44 crore with blocked tickets. In comparison with Partition 1947, Awarapan 2 leads by Rs 2.98 crore. This means it is leading by 121.14 percent or 2.21 times in advance sales.

Expert Opinions

Some trade experts believe that Awarapan 2 may earn from Rs 12 crore to Rs 15 crore on the day, while Partition 1947 can collect Rs 7 crore to Rs 8 crore. These figures are estimates. Actual figures will be available once both movies hit the theaters.
