Trump Walks Out of Interview with NBC over Election Rigging Claims

US President Donald Trump abruptly walked out of an interview with NBC Journalist Kristen Welker after being asked to provide evidence for his claims of election rigging in California and the 2020 Presidential elections.

During the interview, Trump argued with Welker after she repeatedly asked him to provide evidence supporting his claims. He accused the media of being biased and dishonest before abruptly ending the interview.

In the interview aired on Sunday, Trump raised concerns about the California governor election and claimed that delays in announcing the results were a sign of election fraud. He said that even four days after voting, the final results had not been declared, which, according to him, indicated possible electoral irregularities.

Trump Repeats 2020 Election Fraud Allegations

Trump also revived his allegations regarding the 2020 US presidential election, claiming that similar issues were now emerging in California.

When journalist Kristen Welker asked him to present evidence to support his claims, Trump responded, 

I only need to look at it. That is enough for me.

‘Meet the Press is also corrupt’: Trump

Welker pointed out that neither courts nor election officials had verified these allegations. Trump then became visibly upset and said, “They are all corrupt. Just like you, your press is corrupt, and Meet the Press is also corrupt.”

Defending her profession, Welker replied that they were not corrupt. Trump responded, 

Either you are corrupt or foolish.

As the exchange grew increasingly heated, Trump went on to describe several American media institutions as biased and corrupt.

Eventually, he ended the interview, saying, 

That’s enough. Let’s end it here. Thank you.

Welker attempted to continue the discussion, noting that she had traveled all the way from Wisconsin for the interview.  But Trump said, 

A country can never be great with a dishonest press.
