Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday highlighted the "remarkable comeback" of India's Asiatic lions through the sharing of an article penned by Union Minister Bhupender Yadav in a Press Information Bureau statement.

Taking to X, the Prime Minister emphasized that the Asiatic lions were doing well with their numbers not only increasing but also their habitat and range growing due to the commitment of the government in addition to community involvement in the conservation effort.

"The unwavering commitment of the government to conserve our wildlife along with the participation of the communities in this initiative has been remarkable," said Modi.

Asiatic lions are native to the Indian state of Gujarat in the Gir forest region and have always been at the forefront of India's conservation initiatives for the wildlife with the number of these lions rising every year since decades past.
