The security forces operating in the Northeast region of India have noticed a pattern in the drugs seized by them. There were three raids on August 12 in Mizoram, Manipur and Assam, where each raid resulted in the seizure of heroin worth a fortune. The oddity here was that the heroin was concealed in plastic soap boxes in each case. In a locality known as Saitual in Mizoram, the police apprehended a vehicle and found heroin weighing almost one kilogram, concealed in 73 plastic soap boxes. In Senapati in Manipur, the police arrested a person carrying half a kilogram of heroin, concealed in 37 plastic soap boxes. And in Guwahati, two persons were arrested by the police for smuggling heroin concealed in 10 soap boxes. It is not a coincidence. The agencies have stepped up their game since both the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, and the Home Minister of India, Amit Shah, have expressed a desire to create a country that is free of drugs by 2047. Agencies and India's Northeast security agencies are trying very hard to make India a drug-free zone.

Why Do Smugglers Favor Soap Packets?

According to the authorities, this particular trick involving the packaging has been practiced in Myanmar for several years now. The packets vary in size depending on the quantity of heroin between 50 and 200 grams, and the closed nature of these packets prevents moisture from entering, thereby ensuring that the drug remains fresh during transportation. Smugglers prefer this form of packaging because it makes it easy for them to sell heroin without weighing it all the time.
