The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced the final results of the Manjalpur Assembly by-election held in Gujarat. BJP's candidate Satish Patel has won the seat by securing 55,481 votes and defeating the Congress candidate by a margin of 30,630 votes. Bhikhabhai Rabari got 24,851 votes, and 2,247 voters selected NOTA (None of the Above) as their preference.
This by-election to the Manjalpur Assembly constituency in Gujarat was conducted following the demise of veteran BJP leader and former Gujarat minister Yogesh Patel, who passed away on June 2, 2026. The 79-year-old leader had been an eight-time MLA and had represented the constituency since 2012.
The direct contest came about following the withdrawal of nominations by three dummy candidates, as well as the rejection of the nomination papers of four Independent candidates by the election authorities for technical reasons. The result is that only the BJP and Congress nominees were left to contest.
Polling Process
As stated by the Gujarat Chief Electoral Officer, the polling process went well, with no reports of any serious incidents during the entire voting process.
The by-election turnout has been 37.5%, which is lower compared to the 60.15% turnout witnessed in the 2022 Gujarat Assembly elections. The low turnout has been linked to voter fatigue due to the by-election and seasonal factors.
There were 2.19 lakh voters who were eligible to cast their votes, including 1,11,645 males, 1,07,847 females, and two transgender voters.
