A massive fire broke out in a shop in the Purania area under Lucknow's Aliganj police station limits on Monday, causing widespread panic. It is reported that a coaching center was operating above the shop where the fire broke out, further exacerbating the situation.
According to people present at the scene, smoke and flames engulfed the entire building in no time.
Locals Join Rescue Operations
Following the incident, local residents rushed to the scene and began relief and rescue operations. They assisted the administration in safely evacuating the trapped individuals. Fire and police teams immediately arrived at the scene.
Firefighters deployed several vehicles to control the fire, while police evacuated the surrounding area and maintained security. Rescue and firefighting operations are still underway.
Aman, an eyewitness to the incident, said
"There is a library or a computer course institute here. When we arrived, we saw smoke coming from the building. We rescued 5-6 people. After the fire broke out, one person jumped from the building and was seriously injured. Some people are still trapped inside."
CM Directs Immediate Response
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken cognizance of the fire incident. He directed officials to reach the spot immediately. He instructed authorities to speed up relief and rescue operations and ensure proper treatment for those injured in the fire.
