A pick-up vehicle hit a dumper vehicle early Tuesday morning in Bhind district of Madhya Pradesh, resulting in the deaths of eight labourers and injuring 32 others.
The collision took place on the Bhind-Gwalior National Highway near the village of Chhimka at around 1 am. The labourers, who had completed their duty of paddy transplanting in Gwalior, were on their way home to Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh.
According to the police,
“The vehicle crossed over to the opposite lane as the driver tried to avoid a collision with cattle on the road and met with the accident.”
Eight Labourers Killed, 32 Injured
Police said that the vehicle was badly damaged due to the collision, and a number of labourers were stuck inside the vehicle. Eight workers died in the collision. Three of them died while being taken to the hospital, while five succumbed to their injuries at the spot. According to the police, 32 more were injured in the collision.
After being notified, the police rushed to the scene. With the assistance of locals, they were able to free the workers who were stuck inside the vehicle. All the injured were immediately taken to a hospital in Gohad, where they received first aid. According to the police, the severely injured individuals were sent to Gwalior for medical attention.
