The Delhi High Court was warned about a potential bombing through an email on Friday. Security forces immediately sprang into action to investigate the matter, officials stated as quoted by news agency ANI. Registrar General of the Delhi High Court is working in coordination with the Delhi Police to deal with the matter.

Hoax Bomb Threat

Joint Secretary of the Delhi High Court, Advocate Kunal, explained the situation, saying that the threat was fake. "The bomb threat is fake. All is well. Bomb squad and sniffer dogs are carrying out a search of the entire premises. Nothing serious at present," he said.

A bomb squad and canine team was dispatched soon after receiving the warning to conduct a search of the court complex. It is unknown if the email has been traced or if any arrests have been made yet.

Increased Security Before Independence Day

This particular threat has emerged at a time when there is increased security in the national capital region due to the coming of Independence Day on August 15. Delhi Police has increased vigilance before the celebrations of Independence Day. Members of the police department have been posted at key places within the city, while extra security is being exercised at entry and exit points in order to ensure that nothing untoward takes place.

Strict Monitoring of Public Places

Apart from this, there is also strict monitoring of public places where there could be a possibility of heavy public presence before the national holiday. As per some news reports, the Indira Gandhi International Airport and even the famous Jhandewala building had received similar threats. This increased vigilance is part of the annual security procedure adopted by the Delhi Police before the Independence Day, which is marked by increased security around government offices, airports, railway stations, etc.

More developments await as investigation continues into the source of the email threat.
